Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit, an Indian actress famous for Hum Aapke Hai Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is among the most popular Indian actors. In the late 80s the actress began her acting career and became popular with the role of Tezaab, in which she starred alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Her next appearance was in Dil which she shared screen space with Aamir. In Mumbai, she was raised in a family of middle-class parents. When she was a young age, she began to study dance. At the age of 15 when she began to act, she had a difficult time as a majority of her films were flops. She found fame and became one of India's leading film actresses. Her marriage led to an interruption in her professional career. The actress returned in later years. Recently, she played a major role as a character in Gulaab Gang. The film focused on the struggles of women in India. Dixit was nominated 15 times to win Filmfare Awards. She won eight of these. The actress was also honoured with the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her reputation also includes for her social activism.
